  • What is the difference between home health and the nursing services Cura Nurses provides?
Home Health, also known as "Skilled Care," is a service designed for a 60-day period. Typically, home health visits occur 2-3 times a week and may involve various healthcare professionals, including nurses, physical therapists, and case managers. This service is fully covered by Medicare, and often, other private or government insurances provide coverage as well. Should your loved one require additional care, Cura Nurses is here to offer additional support. Cura Nurses provides assistance regardless of whether home health services are in place. Our services range from companion care once a week for a minimum of an hour to 24/7 care delivered by a registered nurse. It's important to note that private duty care is not covered by Medicare or other healthcare insurances. However, it can be utilized in conjunction with long term care insurance (LTC) for added support and flexibility.
  • Why choose Registered nurses and not a caregiving company?
While there is some overlap in the activities carried out by registered nurses and caregivers to support patients and their families, it's essential to recognize their distinct roles. Registered nurses, as healthcare experts and clinicians, implement various measures to motivate, support, and educate patients. They execute treatments prescribed by the medical team, collaborate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate communication with physicians, acting as advocates and aiding patients in understanding their care participation. Registered nurses possess the capability to assess health, take vitals, and primarily focus on the clinical aspects of healthcare. On the other hand, caregivers specialize in non-emergent activities and situations, excluding any form of healthcare or medical support, which is a distinct responsibility of registered nurses.
  • When is a Private Duty nurse the best option?
Home health is a service that is helpful and is covered by insurance, but sometimes the services provided by them are just not enough. For example, if your loved one is discharged from the hospital and has home health on board, many home health companies may not be able to see your loved one in-person for 3 or more days. Cura Nurses can provide supplemental care during that crucial time because we can often see patients the same day or the next day.
